History:

The Rubiton Stakes gained Group 3 status in 1992 after being elevated from a Listed event. First run in 1989, it has only ever been held over two distances, 1000m and its current 1100m.

Prior to 2010 the race was run under weight-for-age conditions.

Zeditave won the inaugural Rubiton Stakes and since them some great gallopers have claimed victory including multiple winners Schillaci (1993 & 1995) and Super Elegant (2003 & 2004).
