Joining the stable of trainer Mick Price while based in Melbourne, the Marwina mare has claimed 12 wins from 30 starts to date that included the 2013 Group 3 Roma Cup at Belmont Park, before finishing the 2013 calendar with a strong third behind Conservatorium in the A.J Scahill Stakes on December 7th.

Electing not to run in a lead-up barrier trial before her first competitive run of the year, Power Princess has been joined in 2014 Rubtion Stakes nominations by fellow Price runners Lion Of Belfort and Lankan Rupee.

Lankan Rupee had a stellar 2013; winning three of eight starts that included the Listed Dilmah Earl Grey Stakes (1000m) over Snitzerland and Nicholls Court before a comfortable first in the Group 3 Kevin Heffernan Stakes capped off the memorable season at Caulfield.

Returning to the track for the first time in 2014 at a barrier trial at Cranbourne two weeks ago, the Redoute’s Choice gelding has many expecting a big season after beating out a talented field that included Group 1 champions Polanski and Bel Sprinter over an 800m sprint.

Also included in nominations for the 2014 Rubiton Stakes is Better Than Ready.

Trainer Kelly Schweida has already outlined a busy path for the four-year-old son of More Than Ready this Autumn, with another attempt on the Group 1 Lexus Newmarket Handicap underlined as the short-term goal.

Following the Rubiton Stakes, Schweida revealed his intention to cap off competitive preparations with a run in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate at (1100m) at Caulfield on February 22 before lining up for another tilt at the Newmarket Handicap, in which More Than Ready finished the 2013 edition fifth behind Shamexpress.

A total of 11 nominations were taken for the 2014 Group 2 Rubition Stakes; five short of the event’s 16 horse limit.
