A talented field of just ten sprinters have been confirmed for Saturday’s Group 2 Rubiton Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield, offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint and several opportunities to place a winning bet.
Having returned to racing in career-best form over the 2014 Spring Carnival, Chautauqua ($1.65) has understandably opened as and maintained status as favourite for success ahead of Atmospherical ($6), Eloping ($6.50) and Missy Longstocking ($15) with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.
Will Chautauqua return to the winner’s circle in the 2015 Rubiton Stakes, or will one of his talented rivals cause a huge upset?
Securing four wins and as many minor places from his ten competitive starts so far, Chautauqua is without doubt the class horse of the 2015 Rubiton Stakes final field, will leave from the ideal barrier 3 and is more than worth consideration for a bet at current odds. Winning the Group 3 Hawkesbury Guineas (1400m) most notably over the autumn, the Encosta De Lago gelding returned to racing for an easy victory in the Group 3 Bobbie Lewis Quality (1200m) on September 13th before returning to the winner’s circle in the Group 2 Gilgai Stakes (1200m) on October 4th. Having placed a close second in the Group 1 Darley Classic (1200m) most recently, punters may find value in adding Chautauqua as a fold in a 2015 Rubiton Stakes quinella or trifecta bet.
Classy three-year-old Eloping is a proven performer amongst open company, will carry just 52.5kgs and will jump from the rails draw in the 2015 Rubiton Stakes, and arguably offers punters the best value for money in betting markets as a result. Winning sixth of her 13 starts and finishing in the top three a further three times, the Choisir filly placed third in the Group 2 McEwen Stakes (1000m) on September 6th; progressing to back-to-back victories in the Group 3 Champagne Stakes (1200m) and Listed Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m) before placing a credible sixth in the featured Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m). Returning to the paddock following a close second in the Group 3 Gucci Stakes (1100m), trainer Peter Morgan is thrilled with Eloping’s returning condition and is confident of first-up success in the 2015 Rubiton Stakes.
Atmospherical has not been seen at the races since taking out the Listed Dilmah Earl Grey Stakes (1000m) on November 6th, but has performed particularly well in two Sydney barrier trials over recent weeks and appears primed for s successful return in the 2015 Rubiton Stakes. Having contested just one race in Melbourne through her ten start career, the Caulfield track may prove to be an unknown factor for the Northern Meteor mare, however the confirmation of leading jockey Craig Williams is sure to boost her chances for success.
